R Ramanand was born in 1988 at Calicut in Kerala to Arundhati and Ramadas. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English literature and world history, a Master's degree in Medical & Psychiatric social work, and an MPhil research degree in Public health from the Center for Social Medicine & Community Health at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

He has currently submitted his Ph.D. in Social Sciences in Health at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has many years of research experience in the field of Kashmir Saiva Tantra and has written several articles on the subject. He is the author of Tantrarahasyam, Vijnanabhairava Tantra, Kuttichathan Ayyappan Sasthav, and Kashmira Saivam. He is a screen playwright, lecturer, and writer. Currently, he is serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Sivam Magazine.
