This course starts with a short intro to the Sanskrit language with its origin, evolution and its uniqueness. And then progresses into topics such as how a letter represents our life and the unique interconnections between letters, the human body and various forces of nature. Next, we will look at how the same Sanskrit word is used in totally different contexts with entirely different meanings. We will explore dozens of technical terms and their meanings. A simple example is that the word "ram" can be a goat, "random access memory" or the supreme lord - based on the context. The goal of this course is to help the participant see and use Sanskrit as a dynamic language so that they pay attention to the meaning rather than just the translation.
Science is taught in every language with the same efficacy. Every scientific term and principle is translated into any language easily. Ayurveda should the same. But, it's not. There is a reason. And the reason is that Ayurvedic experts can't translate them into any other language. In order to translate, we need to understand the term and principle in a precise but simple way.
This short and exciting introductory course is to explore all vital terms in Ayurveda using the Sanskrit language as deep as possible. The participants understand the deep meanings of each word and as a result, they start applying them more efficiently.
Here is an example. Let's take the term "Pitta". Word to word meaning is 'to split' and 'to bring up'. There is a third origin for the word as well - 'tapa', meaning 'related to heat, fire or sun'. This helps us arrive at a contextual meaning which is 'a fire-like principle that which disassemble food in order to nourish the system'. Now, we can understand that Pitta is different from similar principles such as Agni and so on. It's about bringing clarity, precision and usefulness of meaning.
Once we start applying Sanskrit basics contextually to Ayurvedic terms we understand Ayurveda deeply so that the language is no more a barrier in teaching or learning.
This short training is just about using Sanskrit, the language of all ancient Ayurveda literature, effectively.
